About Emulsion Ruins

‘Emulsion Ruins’ is a visual celebration of historic Nafplio town and its iconic Palamidi fortress, created by Marina Papaspirou.

Marina first visited Nafplio in 1997 and fell in love with its romantic energy, raw natural beauty and historical architecture.

Inspired by the town’s history, the ‘Emulsion Ruins’ photographs are printed in the darkroom. To give the prints a vintage old-world feel, white and brown art papers were hand-coated with liquid emulsion, printed and sepia toned.
